Interworking between P2PSIP Overlays and IMS Networks – Scenarios and Technical Solutions

چکیده
This article provides a comparison of two of the most promising technologies which are supposed to be used for enabling communications over the Internet: IMS and P2PSIP. As their fields of adoptions are totally different – operators and mobile networks for the former, Internet and ephemeral communities for the latter – interoperability rather than competition seems to be the key for achieving a win-win situation. Right after introducing and comparing the technologies, the article will describe two scenarios where interworking may produce added value, and will discuss technical issues to be addressed in order to achieve effective

متن کاملSuitability of Dht-based Peer-to-peer Session Initiation Protocol for Wireless Distributed Services
Providing both analytical and empirical results, we analyze the suitability of DHT-based Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation Protocol (P2PSIP) overlay networking as a substrate for wireless, distributed multimedia services. Session initiation is just one application of this framework. First, we discuss the potential of P2PSIP for different applications and analyze the security and reliability of P2...
متن کاملImproving Management Performance of P2PSIP for Mobile Sensing in Wireless Overlays
Future wireless communications are heading towards an all-Internet Protocol (all-IP) design, and will rely on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to manage services, such as voice over IP (VoIP). The centralized architecture of traditional SIP has numerous disadvantages for mobile ad hoc services that may be possibly overcome by advanced peer-to-peer (P2P) technologies initially developed for...
متن کاملLTE and LTE-A Interworking and Interoperability with 3GPP and non-3GPP Wireless Networks
This paper provides a high-level overview of E-UTRAN interworking and interoperability with existing Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and non-3GPP wireless networks. E-UTRAN access networks (LTE and LTE-A) are currently the latest technologies for 3GPP evolution specified in Release 8, 9 and beyond. These technologies promise higher throughputs and lower latency while also reducing t...
متن کاملLoosely Coupled Heterogeneous Networks Convergence using IMS-SIP-AAA
In this paper a heterogeneous network model based on the IMS-SIP (session Initiation protocol) with the help of Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) protocol that integrates the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) technologies is proposed to improve QoS. The proposed Loos...
